So here are some of the things I like including music, movies,, and my favorite TV shows.
Music:
Okay, if you checked out my small CD collection, you'd definitely be confused. My music taste is very eclectic to say the least and you never know what you'll find in the CD changer. (At a recent party, the playlist was: KMFMD, New Wave Dance Party, Aqua, Prodigy and Dance Hall Crashers.)
I am sometimes known as the Metal Chick because my favorite band of all time is Metallica. Okay, okay, so Load and Re-Load are inferior to their earlier stuff, but I still think these guys rock. My favorite songs are Creeping Death and Blackened . . . well, actually all of Ride the Lightning and And Justice for All albums. There are multitude of pages out there dedicated to the group, but check out their Official Fan Club Site .
Okay, so now on to other groups. I love the Foo Fighters and think that Dave Grohl is amazing. He directed the video for "Everlong" and it is one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. I also like The Darling Buds , a very cool guitar based pop band from England. I also like bouncy, happy, music, which in my mind means ska and my favorite ska group is The Dance Hall Crashers . These guys are totally cool and you can win free stuff from their website. Check it out! Of course, then there is KMFDM who I only recently learned to appreciate when a friend took me to their concert. Boy am I glad I went!
I could go on forever listing more music, but I'm sure you have better things to do with your time, so I'll stop. If you'd like to chat about these groups or find out more about the music I like, drop me a line at [email protected]

Movies:
In case you haven't figured it out yet by my email address, The Dark Crystal is one of my very favorite movies. My friends decided long ago that I looked like a gelfling because of my short stature and facial features and I guess the nickname stuck with me. Of course, now that I know better, I could tell them that I am far too tall to be a gelfling (the average gelfling stands between three and a half to four feet tall) but have opted not to argue because I'd rather be a tall gelfling than a short human. If you're interested in learning more about the movie or wondering how in the world I know about gelfling physiology, you can check out these two sites I found. Dark Childe's Dark Crystal Page and Rockhead's Dark Crystal World .
Another movie that I absolutely love is The Princess Bride . Like most people who enjoy this movie I can recite the dialogue along with the movie and sometimes at random moments in conversation. If you've seen the movie, you probably know what I'm talking about. If this is something that you do too, and would like to learn more bits of dialogue to amaze your friends with, you can check out the entire script online here or check out another cool Princess Bride site with pictures, articles and all sorts of other cool stuff.
Speaking of reciting dialogue along with the movie . . . My sister and I absolutely adore The Neverending Story , although we haven't seen it in a long time. When it came out on video we bought it and watched it like a million times so that we knew the whole darn movie by heart. In fact, we watched it so many times that we ruined the videotape. You can still catch us reciting little bits of it now and again, but we're not nearly as bad as we were back then.
As long as John Cussack is in a movie, chances are that it's going to be good. I love all of the movies that I've seen with him in it, but Better off Dead is the funniest in my opinion. I also loved Say Anything . . . and Grosse Point Blank was excellent too. My roommate and I are currently trying to watch every movie he has ever been in . . . but some of them are hard to track down at the video store.
Okay a bunch of other movies I like are the Star Wars Trilogy. I won't go into detail here, because I'm sure you understand how I feel . . . and if you don't I just can't explain it to you. Labyrinth and Legend are also excellent movies that I love to watch over and over again. Of course, all of these are movies that have been out for years. It's not that I haven't seen any movies recently, or that I don't like them . . . these are just the few that I felt needed to be mentioned.

Television
I don't really watch a heck of a lot of television nowadays, but I do have several shows that I really, really like.
The X-Files, however does not count as a television show. It is more of a cult experience. I absolutely MUST watch it every week or have someone tape it. Okay, so that's a little obsessive, but I've been watching this show since the first season and have watched avidly the whole time the show has been on. The characters are interesting and I find the plots fascinating. Of course, it kind of helps that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are such beautiful people. I simply adore them. This season proves to be very interesting, and I can hardly wait until the movies comes out this summer. There a like a jillion web sites devoted to the X-Files and to the wonderful actors who portray Agents Mulder and Scully. Instead of inundating you with links, however, I'll just provide you with a few of my favorites.
This is not the Official X-Files Web Site, but it is very interesting and has some good pictures. Check outA Serious Look at the X-Files.
For some excellent pictures of David Duchovny, as well as articles and news, check out The David Duchovny Page of Lust.
OR, if redheads are more your thing, you might want to join The Gillian Anderson Testosterone Brigade

Once again, I must confess my utter lameness. I have not updated this page once since I wrote it. All of the information is frozen in time from the winter of 1997. Ye gods. Most of the information is still current, it's just that I haven't written anything new, although I've developed a liking for some new things since then. Here is a brief list to keep you satisfied until I get around to updating this:
Music: Harvey Danger
Movies: The trailer for the new Star Wars movie
TV: That 70s Show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dharma & Greg
Eh. There's too much to list. Some day I'll get around to a comprehensive list of stuff I like, then you'll be sorry. |
