Dancing

I love dancing and currently my friends and I go to either Machine Werks or the Catwalk, two of the best goth/industrial dance clubs around. The music is usually good and there is lots of eye candy. I also love going to Neighbour's on Thursday nights for the 80s Wave Retro Night. I haven't been there in a while though, because I lack transportation.

SCA:

I am currently involved with the Society for Creative Anachronism which is a group which does Medieval and Renaissance Recreations. The SCA is a worldwide organization, but the branch that I currently play with is the Barony of Madrone which is the Greater Seattle/King County area of Washington. Aside from being the Chatelaine for the Barony, I am also involved in learning how to fence. Yes, that's right, I do weild a rapier on occasion, so watch out! I am also an apprentice chirurgeon (first aid provider) and constable (security type person) and would like to get more involved if I ever find more of that free time I was bragging about earlier. And of course, I am always trying to improve my sewing skills so that I might make beautiful historically accurate clothing and look smashing at events. (Right now, I think a better term to describe my appearance at events is smashed.)

Pomegranates

Besides playing in the SCA, I am also actually doing something which kinda sorta relates to my major. (Gasp! My friend Chris insists that I am violating several statutes with this.) I am involved in editing and copyediting a serialized novel for Pomegranates, an online literary ezine. Check it out. There are some very interesting stories and articles and very, very soon, my sister and my roomie Justin will have their own work published there.

Games

What else do I do? I also really love to play fighting games. I'm not any good because I don't play that often, but I like to play nonetheless. My roomie recently bought a game system so that we can play one of my favorite games: Fighting Vipers.

My favorite character to fight with is Candy. She wears a red rubber dress that she made herself and entered the Fighting Vipers Tournament to promote her original fashion line. Hey, I'm not making that up, it says that right in the book that comes with the game. I'm thinking of dressing up as Candy at one of the Conventions that I'm attending in the near future and then maybe for Halloween this year.

Okay, I like Fighting Vipers, but my favorite figting game is Virtua Fighter 2. My sister and I saw it one day (I forget where) and decided to check it out. While looking at the different characters, we noticed one of them, Sarah Bryant had a move called the "double-joint butt." It sounded so weird that I told her "I have got to see that" and convinced her to play the game with me. Then, she got a Sega Saturn which came with that game and I have been hooked ever since. Sarah Bryant is still my favorite character. She kicks butt. Er, no pun intended.

In case you didn't notice I like Sega games. If you like, you can check out the Sega website to learn more about what new fighting games are coming out, and I suppose there are other types of games out there too. Or, you can check out Gameworks. This is one of the places I like to go to play these games when I'm not playing at home. Gameworks features Sega games, but of course has others. They also have a really cool game called "Vertical Reality" in which your chair is raised and lowered to different levels depending on your performance. There are several Gameworks locations besides Seattle and if you are ever near one, I recommend you check it out.
